Need vs. Dependency

Need and dependency are related but distinct concepts.

Need refers to a requirement or a want for something deemed necessary or essential to fulfill a particular purpose or satisfy a desire.

Dependency, on the other hand, refers to a reliance on something or someone for support or to function correctly. It's often used to describe a situation where one thing or person depends on another for survival, functioning, or completion.

For example, a person may need food but may also develop a dependency on fast food as a source of sustenance.

Therefore, if love is food for the heart, then we both have the need for food and depend on it.   So, how can people give up love? Or is it just replaced? Maybe it is replaced by a different type of "food," not fast food, but wholesome food or healthy foods. Is that how people can move or switch? The need or dependency is still the same, but the fulfillment is different. If we can see this, we can maintain the need or redirect its dependence.

This approach allows us to decide what is best for ourselves. Maybe, fast food is healthy, or having that glass of wine daily, or a single cigarette? I am not justifying unhealthy items, but life comes down to choices and what are the best options for ourselves. What do we need? What are we dependent on? And having the perspective to see the difference and make choices to service ourselves.
