Animal

If you could be any animal, what animal would you choose? People have different opinions, but I personally would choose between two animals. The first option is a dog because of their loyalty and gratitude towards their owners. They are committed and have no expectations other than being present at the moment. I love my Shiba Inu, Cody, who is always happy to see me. He is not like a typical Shiba Inu, but he just loves being with me.

The second option would be a bird, not just any bird, but a hawk or eagle. These birds are majestic and have a sense of pride and a unique style about them. They can fly anywhere and have a sense of incredible freedom. They move from tree to tree and can perch on a hilltop, which gives them the ability to choose where to go. They have a great view of the world and can go anywhere they want. I love the freedom that they possess.

These are my two choices if I had to be an animal.

  1. When I think about what type of Animal I would like to be, I look at the characteristics, behaviors and life style of the animal. Which animal is at the top of the food chain and which animals have the best advantage in life and how long is their lifespan.

Then I compare those things to a human life (my human life) and ultimately pick the animal that is similar to the values in my own life. Which animal would make me happy and why?

Aren’t humans animals? And what about animalistic instincts. Animals don’t have the capacity to analyze. They react to their environment. They listen to their instincts which is created for the mode of survival. So which animal has the best instincts and the best tools of defense to live in a “dog eat dog “ world.” Aren’t we all just trying to survive and live as long as we can.

Some animals live alone most of the time (the male animal) and come together for procreation for the purpose of non extinction.Like bears and Lions. Some animals live in herds because there is safety in numbers. Like horses, antelope elephants, etc. Some birds mate for life, most animals mate with any willing partner and strangely, like deer, a male deer will follow the scent of a doe in a rut and run into the street while perusing her and without any hesitation gets hit by a car and killed. At that moment, his urge to procreate over through his instinctual judgements for survival and ignored the danger around him.

With that said, I look again at what type of animal I would like to be. I can’t choose a human, because that is not the question.

A lioness, she is a very skilled Hunter and has to take care of the pack when the male leaves. She is a provider, she is sly ( careful with her movements making sure she is not alerting her prey to danger) she is patient when she hunts, waiting for hours until the time is right to strike. When the time is right, she is quick to attack and and her speed is fast and agile, changing in a flash to keep up and out-maneuver her prey. And when she bites, she doesn’t let go until her dinner has been secured.

That may sound viscous in the way I described her characteristics but what does she do next? She takes her dinner to her family and feeds them making sure they get what they need to survive. She eats last because her family needs the nourishment to stay alive. She needs her family. She is part of a pack that survives together.

So, yes, I would choose to be a lioness.
